Disclaimer
Dateme is a convenience tool, not a secure system. Please do not use it to collect sensitive or personal data.
Links are the only key
There are no accounts and no passwords. Each date request has two links, and holding a link is the only thing that grants access:
- The Create link. Anyone who has it can change or remove the dates on offer, and read every answer. There is nothing else standing in their way.
- The Collect answers link. Anyone who has it can submit availability and see everyone else's answers, including their names.
The links contain long random identifiers (UUIDs), which makes them impractical to guess. That is obscurity, not security. A link that is forwarded, pasted into a group chat, left in a browser history, or recorded in a server or CDN access log is a link that works for whoever finds it, and it cannot be revoked.
Do not put sensitive information in here
Do not use Dateme for health, religious or political information, trade union membership, sexual orientation, criminal matters, financial or identity details, or anything else you would not be comfortable seeing outside the group you shared the link with. It is not the right tool for it.
Names are stored as typed and shown to everyone who has the Collect answers link. Ask people for a first name or a nickname if that is enough for your purpose, and remember that answers are not verified: nothing stops one person from answering several times, or from answering under someone else's name.
No guarantees
This service is provided as is, without warranty of any kind and without any promise of availability, backup or retention. Content may be removed at any time. Keep your own copy of anything you need to keep.
The privacy policy says what is stored, who can see it, and how long it is kept.
Operated by Brightness AS. If you need confidentiality, auditability, consent tracking or a retention policy, use a tool built for that instead.
